Challenge Week results

January 23, 2011

So if you didn’t read my last post then you won’t know what this post is about. . . basically, Mrs. Amy issued a Challenge week and here were my goals for the week:

Amy's Creative Side

1. Cut all the white squares for the tokyo quilt. . . that’s right 700+ 2′ square. . oi! –

DONE!!! Took me the whole Friday and listening to Pandora. . but it’s done, good thing I don’t have to cut for awhile. . .

714 Squares

2. Get most of my mystery squares sewn together. . . I know I will need help on a couple of them. –

not done. . . . I went to the store on my lunch hour on Thursday and saw the quilt, it’s just not something I’m interested in finished so I’ll just use the fabric in other projects. The one thing I did appreciated from the mystery quilt was all the neat blocks I learned how to do. Wouldn’t trade that in for anything.

3. Figure out a design for my Bee Blocks.

Done! See last post. . . I got really positive feedback from it so I’ll be chuggin out 5 more of the blocks this week.

4. Keep out of trouble and not buy more fabric. . . .

Done! But I think I won’t be able to hold out much longer, saw some cupcake fabric on a local store’s blog and you know how I have a weakness for them cupcakes! I think the whole StashPact is great. . but I don’t buy fabric for projects, I kind of just buy them to have them. . . and then when a project does come up then it’s there. But this could be the fabric addict talking and trying to rationalize the fact that I can go shopping. . . .

Made huge progress on tokyo quilt this weekend add another whole row!!

Here’s the crzy thing. . . I want to finish this one so bad that I’m kind of turning into a hermit. I don’t want to go out. . shopping. . parties. . . hang out with friends. . . I just want to sew. . . then I kind of slap myself in the face and say, “the fabric isn’t going anywhere and you really need some fresh air.”

What’s on the list this week?

Getting the rest of my bee blocks done. . . and keep chugging on the tokyo quilt. . . . oh I will try to get some craftygoodness done too. . . stayed tuned!

I’ve seen Elizabeth’s Tokyo subway map, and the thought of cutting out all of those squares! Yikes! Yours looks beautiful! Keep it up! Are you going to do her Japanese characters on the back? I love your block, too!

Finishing one row of the Tokyo quilt looks like it is a HUGE accomplishment in itself! It looks so cool. I want to try one too but I am afraid I don’t have the patience for it. Yours looks really good! Good luck with it!

I wouldn’t want to leave the house either, that quilt is GREAT! I have thought about making one too, but I also would become more of a hermit than I already am!

I love how how the Tokyo quilt is coming along. I think I have a thing for 2″ blocks. I can’t wait to see the whole thing.
