March 13, 2013

Oh yes, I’ve actually been able to get some sewing time in.  I figure since I’m been working my ass off I should be able to sew it up for a weekend without feeling guilty.

Remember my Valentine quilt?  Well I was able to finish all the blocks and lay them out Friday night, and seriously loved how it turned out (yeah I’m tooting my horn, it’s tootable) :

Valentine progress

The whole day light savings time really messed me up and I didn’t get much sleep on Sunday.  I’ve got all the blocks sewn together and now I just need to sew the rows together.  I’ve got ideas for quilting it too.

It’s seems like forever since I was able to chug out a sewing project.  After this one, I’m spending some serious time organizing and destashing my fabric.  I’m way too embarrassed to show you my fabric piles right now.    Maybe to make me feel better about my fabric mess you can show me your fabric mess and I’ll give away my swag bag from Quiltcon as shown below:

Oooo love it, I’ve been thinking about a vintage sheet string quilt today!

I love your quilt. I made a quilt to give to a family that was in need over the weekend. It was a disappearing nine patch, so it was easy to whip up. Another friend is doing the quilting for free, and then we are donating it. My stash is in about five or six bins and isn’t organized, but I’m not on flickr, so I guess I can’t post a picture. Besides, my whole sewing room is such a mess. I would have loved to win, however.

I registered too late to get the fabulous goodie bag (the classes I was interested in were full) Next time, I am determined to get one. I am too disorganized to get a photo of my chaos, so I will defer my chance to win.

Love the colors of your quilt! Very nice!

On behalf of my mom I would like to tell you that she thinks your quilt is beautiful. She saw it on FB but felt like it was too impersonal to comment on it there. Mrs. Warren’s grasp on social media is pretty loose. Bless her internet-ing heart.

I love that quilt! It is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. I’m not sure how to put a link here, but I’m on Flickr as Cecilia’s Quilts and I just uploaded a picture of my stash. I reorganized it this year and I love the way it looks. I used the comic book boards and I love the way they work. Thanks for the chance to win.

Toot away on your horn! You should- it’s gorgeous! I spent a weekend earlier this year organizing my stash- the fabric part, at least:

  • Lauren aka Giddy99 March 13, 2013 at 10:11 am

I organized mine last month, but it’s not this neat anymore (I’m out of town until 3/18, so I have to send the “freshly-organized after” shot, no way to get an “actual as of right now shot):

What? Amy that quilt is Gorgeous!
P.S. you are not alone in the daylight savings F-up It’s killing me too.

Love the string quilt layout. Can’t wait to see it all together. Here’s a post about my “hot mess”:

I love your quilt blocks laid out like that – it will be great when finished. Here is my fabric stash semi organized….I now have it all done but have not posted photos yet 🙂

I love the colours in this quilt. My stash is pathetically tiny but I’m new to this game. Doesn’t help that I’m at home now with the toddler so no cash to splash around (well just a little on fabric) 🙂

You posted this just at the right time, I had a bit of a spring clean just yesterday to get my sewing mojo back, so it’s relatively tidy

    Thanks for the giveaway 🙂

Congrats on getting to spend the whole weekend sewing! Here is a link to my stash just after I organized it – and let me tell you – it has made my craft life AWESOME!

Your valentine quilt is gorgeous! It really appeals to me. I think it’s the symmetry of the block design, and its neatness and accuracy. Great job, well done!

Here’s my stash! Loved looking at yours on IG, too.

I just started sorting my fabric by color, which has been fun, since I love to look at every piece, but also surprising. Where did all that green come from? Why don’t I have more red? What the heck? Here is a glimpse of my initial effort:

  • Sarah N March 16, 2013 at 5:39 am

I actually just re-sorted (sort of) my fabric, so it all fits in these drawers! It’s a bit messy inside the drawers though, I just dug through it all to find fabric for a new project! I have two sewing baskets, but one is in the kitchen with my sewing machine and the other is just out of shot. I’d be happy that it doesn’t take up much space if I didn’t have about the same quantity of yarn too…

  • Pam March 16, 2013 at 6:34 pm

Wow wow wow – your quilt is amazing – the way that you have arranged the values , especially the grays, make it look multidimentional. Each block looks like a pool that I could jump into. As for fabric piles, my sewing room is pretty messy right now too. But I have a pretty small stash so I’m not drowning. Just three plastic bins and a messey tabletop – photos linked. Thanks so much for the giveaway opportunity. I’d love to have more of a mess in my sewing room!
