Vintage Quilt Revival Block Along

I was really excited when I saw this book from my buddies, Katie of Swim Bike Quilt, Faith of Fresh Lemons, and Lee of Freshly Peiced.  If you haven’t bought your copy – I URGE you to!!

Fat Quarter Shop

Interweave Store

The book is focused on Modern Traditionalism quilting and techniques.  The book has 20 blocks in the book and 22 projects.  When I picked up the book, I was inspired.  It’s fresh and bright.  Pretty brilliant if you ask me.

So lets do a Block Along – if you want to use the blocks in a mini. . or a quilt. . or another project that’s okay. I want to do each block and make colorful quilt at the end. Posts will start on Tuesday 01.21.14 (2 blocks a week).

I’ll post my versions of blocks in the book (in order of course). I’ll post any tips or tricks that helped me go through it. The post will have a link up party so we can share each other’s finishes. Please also upload a picture of your blocks to the Flickr Group

There might could be prizes. . . but I think accomplishing something is pretty awesome prize don’t you?

Will you join in the fun???

  29. Gina Wood says:

I really want to try this. I have ordered the book and just need to get the fabric. I will probably have to order it on line. Can you tell me if it gives an estimate of the yardage needed if you want to do the quilt on point like it is shown in the book. The background fabric? Would a layer cake be a good option for the prints? I want to have my supplies before it begins. Thanks so much for hosting this. Can’t wait. Gina

  30. I’d like to join in, but not sure if I will have time with all my other projects. Do I need to buy the book in order to join? I don’t know how long it would take to get to me if I have to order it online.

  31. Gina Wood says:

I am so happy. My book finally came today. Now just to pick my fabric.

  32. Great idea. I bought the book for myself at Christmas and I have been dying to make some of the blocks.

  33. I’ve never done this online before. Sounds like fun and perfectly doable. I have the book, sew count me in.

  34. Suzanne Mooney says:

I’ve never done a QAL and this was one of my goals for 2014. I just ordered the book and can’t wait to begin.

  35. I waffled for two weeks about whether to join up, and finally decided that YES, I MUST DO THIS with you. And so I shall! Yippee!

  36. Cath Allen says:

I would love to join in!

  37. I’ve decided to join, but I won’t be able to order the book until Jan 23rd…and will probably get it in the mail by the week after, so I will be behind in following along. Hopefully I will be able to catch up!

  38. Gina Wood says:

I got my fabrics last weekend and spent this weekend washing them. A lot of them are Ghees Bend hand dyed. I confess that I don’t wash most of my fabrics any more but with these hand dyed it is a must. Some of them I think I will need to treat. But did manage to get my first block done. Hopefully I can find some Retayne locally and get the rest of my fabric treated so I can do the 2nd block this week.

  39. do we have to work on the same blocks..? or can I start on another chapter first ?

  40. I ordered my book yesterday and got the shipping notification today. Can’t wait to get it! I am going to use all the vintage fabrics I have in my stash…what better way to try and use some of them!

  41. My book arrived from Amazon today! YAY!

  42. I’m a little late but would love to try.

  43. I am in!
