Week 3 – #Vintagequiltrevival Block Along

February 4, 2014

So this blogging every week. . .I could get use to it, especially when I see all everyone’s blocks posted in the link-up and the flickr group! Oh are you on instagram? Check out the hashtag #vintagequiltrevival (there’s over 400 pics for this book / block along)

Last week’s winner is the lovely Mrs. Jeanine with her colorful blocks Mosaic No. 19!!

This week we’re doing the Dove at the Window Pg. 126 and Art Square pg 134

I finally got my grey in to match Chicopee and so I’ll be doing week 1-3 with my orginal fabric choice. I’m excited to get those caught up. . . but I’m also loving the scrappiness of these blocks:

When I was making Dove at the Window – Be very careful in making the hour glass block. Since you’re trimming it twice it kind of leaves little to no room for error.

Did you have a tough time with the star points???

The Art Square was easy (except I have a problem with reading directions and kind of screwed up the half square triangles and cut them wrong to begin with – doh!!!)

At the beginning when I was just making two blocks it was hard to tell if I would like it or not – and as I keep tackling block after block ~ I’m loving it!!! What about you????

This week’s sponsors are:

Hawthorne Threads ~ is owned by a great couple, Charlie and Lindsay!  They began their shop on Etsy and quickly grew it into fabric store.  Hawthorne Threads has a great selection of fabrics!  I think the best part of buying from Hawthorne Threads is the tiered priced discounts!   They’ll be sending the winner a Hawthorne Hues Fat Quarter Bundle:

Interweave is a successful and growing enthusiast-media company based in Loveland, CO, with offices in New York, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania.   Interweave delivers best-in-market content to enthusiasts when, where, and how they want.

Please link up below!!!  Can’t wait to see your blocks!!

These are all so great! You are right – the more blocks you make the nicer it looks! I’m glad I can follow along virtually since I don’t have time to make the blocks 🙂
