Ruby Star Wrap-Along: Week 6

December 10, 2012

Dang! I had plans of getting my Christmas tree this weekend and decorating n’ junk but that didn’t happen. Instead me and the hubby picked up this awesome piece from a local consignment store!

Mid-Century Modern Credenza

I love it for so many reasons. The main reason is that my hubby was on board to get it. I mean. . . I never really mentioned to him that I was into the whole mid-century modern Design . . so it’s like: “Hey Honey, can you please read my mind?” So now we’re looking for a nice piece of art to go above it. Can’t wait to get my living room together!!!

We’re into the 6th week of the Wrap-Along! Have we inspired you to wrap differently? I know that seeing other bloggers wrapping projects have inspired me.

Today you’ll see Maureen of Maureen Cracknell Handmade showing the Button Down Shirt Bag:

Half way done with the Ruby Star Wrap-Along and projects keep coming in! Love it!

I don’t know if you follow Sew, Mama, Sew’s blog but they’re in the middle of the 6th Annual Handmade Holidays. Every day in the month of November – they feature tutorials, recipes, printables, and much much more. It’s gives you great ideas for folks in your life. On Friday, Melody showed readers how to do Ruby Star Ornament Boxes. They’re super adorable!

A little worried about last week and folks trying to fit in the Ruby Star Wrap-Along with the turkey holiday and mega shopping – but I’m really glad to see folks had time to make things from the book!

Mary took the prize with her version of the Game Board Box. Congrats woman!

Today, Elizabeth of Don’t Call me Betsy shows us the Plucky Pantry box with Allison’s Favorite Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies:

Paint it!

November 23, 2012

Hey everyone! Welcome to my project for the Ruby Star Wrap-along! Today, I’m showing my version of “Paint It.”

Paint It

No sewing required! Which is kind of weird for me since my bread n’ butter is sewing.  It was really fun and easy and really it took me an hour to finish the project.  I did this project before putting the big bird in the oven for Thanksgiving.

I did the project outside and I used a brown paper bag to help me guard from the paint.  Plus remember well ventilated area is a good thing!

DSCN2208I know this is meant to wrap up something and give it to someone else. . . but I’m going to be 100% greedy and I’m going to keep it for M Y S E L F! Since the project was so easy though, I’ll make it again for sure.

Oh yeah . . the hubby got in on the action, his is a little more manlier than mine because he used “chrome(not silver) paint.

I think my favorite part is seeing labels that we’ve seen all the time but in a different way ya know?

Remember – choose a project out of the book, make it, and link up! This week’s prize is pretty great (well pretty awesome!)  Melody’s donated a great prize pack of vintage fabric and notions with arrows she used in her booth at International Quilt Market.   Pink Castle Fabrics is also adding a $25.00 gift certificate to their store!
