#Sewoff Quilting Edition Update

January 21, 2015

SewOff Quick update: Lee of May Chappell and I were working on the Moda Modern Building blocks pattern. . . and after a phone conversation a few weekends ago, we decided that the pattern isn’t meant for us. We dropped it. We decided to go with All Squared Up by May Chappell. IMG_8316   If you want to join – the pattern can be purchased for Lee’s store.  Right off the bat, the cutting instructions are super easy and you can knock this quilt out with ease! Fabricrequirements I’m cutting into my lovely bundle of Franklin by Denyse Schmidt and will be showing off my blocks on my Instagram feed.  My next post will be showing off the whole quilt (aiming for Queen btw). 2014_10_29_17_25_0

#Sewoff Quilting Edition

December 9, 2014

A couple months ago, I purchased a Bernina 350 PE and have been posting on my Instagram how awesome it is.  Lee Monroe of May Chappell has been a great Instagram buddy and commenting on how we’re sewing machine twins.  Well I was thinking of how fun it would be to have a #sewoff.  We both know what we’re doing with quilting, same machines, lets work the same pattern, and show our tips and tricks on our Bernina! SewOff   This is a super duper friendly competition!  Our goal is to challenge ourselves and you can follow us on our journey on Instagram and via our blog.  If you want to challenge yourself too – sew along with us!  We’ve choosen a recent- if you want to pick up the pattern and start sewing along – tag #sewoff The pattern that we decided on is from Moda | Modern Building Blocks This pattern released this spring.  It consists of 48 blocks varying in sizes from 6×6 to 36×36. modernblockpattern   The schedule has been tweaked a little (mostly because of my sorry ass – been kind of busy with #sewtopia )   We’re tackling each block in sections:

  • December 10: Blocks 1-8
  • December 17: Blocks 9-16
  • December 31: Blocks 17-24
  • January 14: Blocks 25-32
  • January 21: Blocks 33-40
  • January 28: Blocks 41-48
  • February 4: Finished Quilt

Moment of Truth! I’m behind already but fessing up to you guys keeps me accountable!!!  I was able to get only the first block done last weekend.  Don’t worry – I’ll keep chugging along. . . . I’ll catch up to you Lee!!!!! I’ll be using most of Japanese fabric for this quilt.
