Pattern Review: Patchwork Napkins by Mrs. Gen X Quilter

April 30, 2014

The latest pattern that Mrs. Gen X Quilter (aka Anne Marie)  released is super easy and fun to make.  The pattern is called: Patchwork Napkins.

Patchwork_Cloth_Napkins_Cover

The pattern is really easy to follow and fast to make – I busted out my two napkins in the matter of a couple hours.  I decided to use my kawaii fabric that I purchased from Bunny Designs – I didn’t fuss cut the squares because there’s tiny!  But I love how they ended up:

For the background I used essex linen and for the other side, I used a sketch fabric by Timeless Treasures.

Would you like to win yourself a copy of the pattern? Well Mrs. Gen X is giving one of my readers a pdf copy and Ang from Bunny Designs is also throwing in a Candy Charm set from her shop! Just go visit Mrs. Gen X quilters pattern shop and tell me which one pattern you love and leave a comment below.

Vintage Quilt Revival Block Along

Thanks for all the support on the Vintage Quilt Revival Block Along!

There’s (3) different types of Sampler Quilts you could make and each one of them requires different yardage.  Each block will tell you how much fabric you need.  The quilts at the end will tell you how much backing and sashing you’ll need.  So make a decision on which quilt suits your fancy.

(Sampler using a Fabric Collection)

(Sampler Quilt with On-Point Blocks)
(Sampler Quilt using Solids)
The one that I’m doing is the one with the solids layout. The fabric I’m using is Chicopee by Denyse Schmidt with coordinating solids from Pink Chalk (that I bought a long, long, long time ago).

I want to do the block schedule from beginner to advanced.

You’ll be entered to win (open to contiguous US residents only):

Today, I’m showing you how to make an Eyelet quilt block.

DSCN2410
Fabric Requirements per block:

  • (4)  3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches of printed fabric
  • (2) 4 x 4 inches of solid fabric (or whatever print is going in the curves)
  • (2) 4 x 4 inches of background fabric

Block Constructions steps:

  • First you’ll need to make (2) 3.25 x 3.25 drunkard’s path block.  You’ll need to buy a drunkard’s path template and best I found are:

Tabslot                                       Joann’s

The best resources that I found for Drunkard’s Path block are:

The Sometimes Crafter

Needle and Spatula (she’ll even show you how without buying a template)

  • After you’re done with the (2) drunkard’s path blocks start sewing your blocks together like so:

eyelet_block_strips

  • Unfinished block should measure 9 1/2 x 6 1/2

If you play around with the layout you could get something pretty spectacular!!!!!
